LENT: Turning Towards Home
Lent is a time of repentance and renewal. Repentance can seem like a scary word, but it doesn't have to be. To repent means, quite literally, to turn around, to change direction. As one writer shared, "Repent" is part of the poetry of exile, something that the Israelites knew a lot about. Repenting, when in exile, meant going home. (Rick Morley)
Lent is a season in which Jesus tells us that we can go home, and God will welcome us back, throwing God's arms around us. That's pretty amazing good news!
